The materials here are linked to an online training course developed initially to update RSC staff with the Assistive Technology boxes.This course is designed to help teachers and tutors become more aware of how easily small changes to their practice can make big changes to the accessibility and engagement of their learning materials.
This course supports elements of A level computing and IT courses, providing examples and information on the impacts - positive and negative - of IT on disabled people.
This course will help you recognise the potential of Office for creating more inclusive e-resources. The session will allow delegates to explore a range of resources that include the following key opportunities:
Ø Structure a document so that it is more accessible to learners with visual, motor, specific learning difficulties and deafness
Ø Use screen tips over images in Word or PowerPoint
Ø Evaluate the benefits and barriers of using sound in interactive learning materials.
Ø Understand the benefits of different document views for different accessibility needs.
Ø Change the appearance of documents to suit different accessibility needs.
This area contains the PowerPoint from the online conference on Friday Jan 20th along with the user questionnaire for inclusion/accessibility themes. Discussions and recommendations regarding the projects will be hosted here also since there may well be synergies between project approaches.
