Senior Management Briefing 5: From Good Intentions to Good Practice: Making the Disability Equality Duty Meaningful.

This briefing looks at making the Disability Equality Schemes produced by FE colleges a resource that will;

• better represent the good practice the college already employs,
• better inform learners of the college's support mechanisms,
• and, better integrate into wider college policies.

The second part of this briefing looks at a model of assistive technologies created by JISC TechDis. There is some excellent free and open source assistive technology available and a list of these technologies can be found within the further guidance section.

Disability Equality Duty (DED) Project reports from LSN Education are now available from the LSN Community VLE . To find out more about involving disabled people or check out contacts in your region, look on the main page of the VLE under 'What's going on in the regions?' where you will find a wealth of information, resources and contacts.

Project 2 looks at making sure that disability equality is central to quality assurance and development planning rather than a separate, marginal activity. Project 4 covers liaison with the voluntary and community sector to promote disability equality.
