Assistive Technology and Assistive and Augmentative Communication in the UK
JISC TechDis along with other organisations with an interest in Assistive Technology (AT) and Assistive and Augmentative Communication (AAC) have formed a joint group to look at the future options for the supply of AT and AAC in the UK. The partners involved in this group include Becta, Fast and SCOPE.
It became apparent in early meetings that although individuals knew a lot about how the assessment delivery and financing of these technologies took place in their own sectors, no-one had an overall view of the way that it occurred across the UK. JISC TechDis has therefore commissioned a piece of work from E.A. Draffan to assemble evidence of how and where AT and AAC is assessed, financed, delivered and evaluated across the UK.
This investigation revealed a mass of information that would have made an indigestible report; we therefore decided to place all the information into a web based resource that would enable it to be browsed in a more useful way. This resource is now available from the link on this page.
