Accessible Events is a new guide for event organisers which will support the planning, organising, publicising and running of events. The quick reference information is designed to support you in meeting your obligations under Part 3 of the Disability Discrimination Act as it highlights how events, and associated documents, can be provided for disabled people in an accessible way.
The advice is accompanied by practical checklists which can be easily customised. References to more in depth information about accessibility issues is contained within the 'Signposting' sections of the guide.

If the needs of potential delegates are taken into account at the planning stage of an event it is more likely that the event will be genuinely accessible, and as such significantly decrease the potential problems encountered by the planning staff.
This section of the guide examines and explains the factors that should be taken into account when producing materials and information for an event.
This guidance aims to support the production of information which is accessible to disabled people using higher education services. For example information may be web-based, electronic or in print, it may be intended for publicity, publications, information, or as a resource.
