The JISC TechDis Staff Training packs provide a ‘pick and go’ suite of staff development materials covering key accessibility and inclusion themes. These are ideal for in-house training sessions because they come with

•    Background materials.
•    Related icebreaker activity.
•    PowerPoint presentation with full speaker notes.
•    Printable activities sheets.
•    Background Information sheets where relevant.

Many of the JISC TechDis staffpacks (see below) are excellent staff development for mainstream teaching and support staff in Higher education (HE), Further Education (FE), Work Based Learning (WBL), Adult Community Learning (ACL) and offender learning. Organisations involved in Business, Community and Enterprise will find many of the packs are good for raising awareness of accessibility and inclusion in the wider communities. Staff development with the JISC TechDis staffpacks can be supplemented with other resources such as SimDis, WatchWords and the Accessibility Essentials series. Organisations wanting to improve inclusion policies as well as staff development will find strategic advice and guidance in the Senior Manager Briefing series and Technology Change for Inclusion reports. A wealth of advice on reasonable adjustments in teaching and learning is also available.

Accessible e-learning – how simple 'home grown' e-Learning resources can add value to learners with different disabilities. This pack is relevant to mainstream tutors in all educational sectors and the sample resources are particularly good for ACL, work based and offender learning.

Benevolent Bill - What Microsoft® does for Accessibility -  a range of built in features in Windows and Word enhance efficiency for all users and can be used creatively to improve the learning experience for disabled learners. This pack is relevant to all mainstream tutors as well as staff supporting learners. It can also benefit the personal productivity of staff.

Checking Accessibility of e-Resources -This pack is now dated in terms of the international guidelines for accessibility and has been superceded by the JISC TechDis Accessibility Passport Generator.

Dyslexia and the Use of Assistive Technology - an overview of the common Specific Learning Difficulties, this pack helps tutors recognise the impact on learning and offers a range of technologies to support individuals. This pack is for tutors and support staff and is especially useful for sectors involving more mature learners (Workbased, Offender, Adult, BCE etc).

e-Assessment – from informal online quiz to formal exams, e-assessment has many benefits for both tutors and learners. It can create a few potential barriers too so this pack is for teaching practitioners wanting to maximise benefits and minimise barriers.
Introduction to Assistive Technology within a Learning Environment – getting the right support in the right context is essential and this staff pack is ideal for tutors and support staff working with disabled learners. The pack develops active discussion and debate as the needs of nine different learners are explored within their individual contexts.

An Introduction to Web Accessibility - this pack uses a simple role play exercise to illustrate the issues some disabled users face when accessing web sites. The activities explore simple ways all users can benefit from tweaking browser settings.
