Disabilities
The following links will provide advice, case studies or guidance for specific disabilities. If you are new to disability issues it is important to remember the following points:
- Whilst it is possible to gain a broad understanding of the issues affecting disabled users, disability is a complex phenomenon with social, medical and personality dimensions.
- Each disabled person is an individual so what works for one learner in a case study may not work for your learner in your setting. Two learners with identical medical conditions can have very different abilities and needs.
- Situations and abilities change so an appropriate intervention at one stage may be less appropriate at a later stage. Learners may need more (or indeed less) support at different stages of their course.
