The Accessibility Passport
In 2006 JISC TechDis developed the concept of the Accessibility Passport - a document that would accompany a learning resource designed to deliver information about the accessibility of that resource, as well as alternate strategies and delivery methods to suit a range of contexts and learners. Users of the resource would have the ability to add their own feedback to the resource, thus informing future users. This was presented at ALT-C 2006 as a poster session.

In February 2007 JISC TechDis hosted the Art of the Possible event designed to further explore and develop the Accessibility Passport idea. JISC TechDis invited key experts from industry, commercial companies, members from the HE and FE communities, key organisations and partners to attend this single day development session, which was intended to help develop an alternative approach which will:
Signal the accessibility benefits and barriers of a resource.
- Provide user friendly practical advice to benefit all users.
- Signpost pedagogically equivalent alternatives.
- Provide a direct feedback mechanism to link user experience to developer expertise.
Following this day, a number of support materials and sample resources have been made available on the
Accessibility Passport section of the JISC TechDis Community Site. A JISCmail list has also been set up in order to gather feedback and suggestions, and keep interested parties informed of the development of the Accessibility Passport. The
JISCmail list is called ACCESSIBILITY-PASSPORT.
The Accessibility Passport has now been developed into a working web resource and is available to view at
